UK returnees being quarantined asks for more C0ND0MS after finishing 4 boxes in 24 hrs. Zimbabwe could be faced with another problem as the returnees are not observing the lockdown rules but engaging in intimacy. Such behaviours will result in the spread of the coronavirus.
Zimbabwean returnees quarantined want more c0nd0ms, finish 4 boxes in one day: Mr Simon Masanga Secretary for Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare says 4 boxes were finished in 24 hours. Simon Masanga said, “Three boxes were finished in twenty-four hours, these are adults and it is not a military camp. You should tell them to behave.”
The incident happened at Plumtree where one hundred and ninety-three Zimbabweans are currently quarantined. Thee returnees were living in Botswana but were deported during the national lockdown currently happening in Botswana.
The returnees may be succeeding in reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS but they are failing to reduce the spread of coronavirus. The Zimbabwe returnees may need to be guarded or to have their doors locked. Zimbabwe has opened a number of quarantine sites across the country such as NSSA hotel in Beitbridge, Belvedere Teachers college in Harare. Zimbabwe is expecting more returnees from surrounding countries and another diaspora.
Zimbabwe is battling to contain the influx of its nationals from other countries and has cut the mandatory quarantine days from twenty-one to seven. The government says the objective is to decongest the quarantine camps. Zimbabweans believe the government is not able to provide for the essentials needed in the quarantine camps.
Recently the government blamed UK returnees for demanding hotel stay and refusing to stay at Belvedere teachers college. The UK returnees argued that they only demanded running water and other essentials.
It turned out that Belvedere teachers college does not have running water and the returnees are forced to share toilets which increases the risk of contracting COVID-19.
