According to a cabinet minister, who is also a senior ruling Zanu PF politburo member, who spoke to this publication in confidence this week, Mohadi is said to have used military rather than party channels to express his alleged closet support for a VP Chiwenga presidency.

Spotlight Zimbabwe, last week was first to report that Chiwenga, is all but now a heartbeat away from being elected by Zanu PF party, to take over the party and government, by replacing Mnangagwa, who is going to be soon recalled by the party during a special Central Committee meeting anytime from now.

Mnangagwa is going to be recalled from his position as Zanu-PF President and First Secretary, anytime soon, as the majority of the 49-member politburo organ are now rallying behind Chiwenga, and are endorsing that he leads a transitional authority that will run for the duration of Mnangagwa’s remaining tenure in office, ruling party insiders have said.

This publication, will next week publish a military attache’s account of how VP Chiwenga, is going to become the President of Zimbabwe, by elbowing Mnangagwa out of power.

“Mohadi doesn’t talk much, but he has now officially endorsed Chiwenga to take over from Mnangagwa,” said the minister.

“People close to his office, have told me that military rather than party channels were recently used to relay Mohadi’s support for the VP to become a transitional president, running the affairs of a transitional authority in our country before the 2023 elections.”

The cabinet minister also said, Mohadi appears to have struck a deal with securocrats believed to be aligned to Chiwenga’s faction, for him to be able to remain a part of the new transitional government, when it comes to power.

“You are likely to see Mohadi remaining in government under the new order and regime of VP Chiwenga. There are claims that a deal has been struck, that will allow him to remain in government for throwing his weight behind the VP. Actually, he might be promoted to the office of first vice president, which will be a first by a Zipra war veteran.”
